Today the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee met in a marathon session in order to resolve the disputes over Michigan and Florida's delegations. Watching today's events, I was struck by the intense anger expressed by some of the observers in the room and the protesters outside. Again I heard some Clinton supporters express their willingness to support John McCain rather than Barack Obama.
I am certain that these people represent only a fraction of Senator Clinton's supporters. To these people I offer this open letter:
Dear Supporters of Senator Hillary Clinton:
I know that many of you are angry. I know that you feel that Senator Clinton is the best candidate for our Party. I respectfully disagree with you, but I do understand your feelings. I would be equally dissappointed if our positions were reversed. However, to abandon the ideals that Senators Clinton and Obama share, to abandon the values and ideals of our Party, would be a terrible mistake. While the differences between our candidates are minor, the differences between Senator Obama and Senator McCain couldn't be more dramatic. For instance, Senator McCain has promised to appoint judges who are similar to Justices Alito and Roberts. Surely you must realize that we are ONE Supreme Court appointment from seeing Roe v. Wade overturned. John McCain has promised to do that and will likely have multiple chances to do so if he were to be elected. Either of our candidates would appoint fair-minded judges who would prevent the promotion a right-wing agenda to roll back personal freedoms.
Your choice is clear. Join with the millions of Democrats, Independents, and Republicans who believe that Barack Obama can bring the change that we so desperately need, or support Senator McCain's proposals to turn back the clock on America's progress. I just ask you to remember that supporting Senator McCain because of your disappointment over Senator Obama's nomination is akin to going to a dealership to buy a small hybrid vehicle, and then driving home in a Hummer because the dealer did not have the trim package you wanted for the hybrid.
America needs us to unite now. I look forward to doing so.

A Letter to Senator Clinton's Supporters
I am a proud supporter of Barack Obama and I am working hard to see him elected in November. Earlier today, I posted this letter to Senator Clinton's supporters in response to some of the angry comments I've heard recently. The letter was posted to my new blog on the Obama campaign site:

So It Begins
Sleep good.
No sleep, bad.
Since I am having a bout of the latter, I decided to start writing. Who knows where this randomness will lead, but I hope that something good (or at least interesting) will come of it. I am passionate about many things, from cooking to politics to dragons and it is likely that I will write about all of them. Well, maybe not the dragons. That would be wierd.
Stay with me, let's see where this goes, together.
